This chapter started by defining the concept of API Management and its importance within an ASG strategy. It went on to describe the fundamental capabilities of Oracle API Manager and its importance with respect to the management of the API lifecycle.
The different application roles and components which are part of the product were also explained, as well as the OAPIM product architecture.
In order to illustrate Oracle API Manager's functionality, a use case was presented portraying the current situation of WBVC, a leading Telco provider on the verge of evolving its interactions with its consumers and partners. Particularly, due to their new Mobile Virtual Network Enablers (MVNE) offering, they needed to publish a set of APIs for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) to consume.
With the help of the use case, the chapter further describes the key components of Oracle API Manager and how they fit into the WBCV API Architecture.
