Summary

In this chapter, we had an overview of all the pieces of configuration that make up the process template. We added a new field to an existing work item type, and then added that field to the requirements backlog columns and the add panel. We also saw how we can import and export various work item configurations using the command line.

If you would like to start slowly with editing the process template using a GUI, you can install the Power Tools, which can be found on the Visual Studio Gallery at https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/898a828a-af00-42c6-bbb2-530dc7b8f2e1.

In the next chapter, we'll see how we can create custom work item controls for both the TFS web access and client applications such as Visual Studio and Microsoft Test Management.
