Creating chemical models


For the sciences, many apps are available. One that stands out in its simplicity and use is MolView, a 2D and 3D chemical modeling app found in the Chrome Webstore. Use the steps from the previous section to install the app. Once installed, launch it from the apps page in Google Chrome or the App Launcher in Chrome OS.

Students are able to create organic compounds and rotate the 3D representation so that it is viewable from multiple angles. Furthermore, using screen capture software such as the Chrome extension Snagit by Techsmith, it is possible to save these images and include them in activities and assessments.
