What is Jet and why should I use it?


Jet Express for Excel is not so much of a report writer, but rather a special tool box for Excel. This toolbox can enable you to not only access your GP data, but also extract exactly what you want from GP. This means you can use native Excel tools to create financial and operational statements. A great example of getting exactly the data you want would be the net change of a general ledger account for a certain period. You can set it so that the period is hard coded in the formula or you can have an Excel field for the period that you reference. This means you do not have to change every formula if the period changes. You can also set your reports to not show accounts if the balance is zero. Yes, you can do these things in Excel, but it is much easier with the Excel add-on from Jet. Using Jet makes it easier to create the report, and certainly makes it easier for the person consuming the report.
