Recording a movie from a camera


Similarly to taking a photo from a camera, it is possible to record a movie and save it on a device. Due to the availability of the CameraCaptureUI class, the same as was used in the previous recipe, you can add the movie recording feature to your application in a really easy way. You will learn how to do it while reading this recipe.

As an example, you will create a page with the Record a movie! button. After clicking on it, the process of recording a movie will be started. When the movie is ready, it will be saved to the Movies directory and played on the page using the MediaElement control.

How to do it...

To prepare an example that allows a user to record a movie from the camera, using the built-in user interface, and save it as .mp4 file, perform the following steps:

  1. Enable the Webcam and Microphone capabilities by double-clicking on the Package.appxmanifest file in...
