Open Visual Studio and create a new project by going to File | New | Project, selecting ASP.NET Core Web Application, and then naming it AngularQuickStart. Press OK, and, in the window that opens, choose an Angular application.
The whole Angular Client application is contained in the ClientApp folder. Let's open this folder and take a look at the Angular package.json to verify whether the version used in the Visual Studio template is sufficiently recent. At the time this book was written, the Visual Studio template was based on Angular 5.2, while the most recent Angular release was 6.1.
The simplest way to move to the test Angular version is to delete the whole ClientApp folder and to create a new Angular application with the latest version of Angular CLI installed in the Technical requirements section, as follows:
