During the course of the book, we aimed at understanding the fundamental concepts of a standards-based closed-loop implementation for BPM and SOA.

We started by covering business process modeling using BPMN and process analysis using simulation techniques to allow business analysts to create iterative process versions, before reaching a selection point for process execution.

We covered the process transition from BPMN to BPEL, followed by process orchestration and execution using process engines such as Oracle's BPEL Process Manager, and saw how this fits into an organization's SOA.

While discussing standards and tools for implementation, we also discussed the coverage of standards in current technology, and potential areas of improvements in allowing end-to-end process automation in terms of interoperability between process models at business levels and IT.
