The four Rhomobile products – Rhodes, Rhosync, RhoHub, and Rhogallery – provide a complete toolkit for creating a mobile application. Rhomobile is cross-platform and so allows you to build your application for many different types of smartphone – including iPhone and Blackberry – just with a single codebase. Time for action – Creating a RhoSync application


Using the rhosync command, let us now create our employee-server RhoSync application.

The rhosync utility is a command line tool for generating RhoSync applications and sources. For creating our employee-server application, we will run the following command on command prompt:

rhosync app employee-server
Generating with app generator:
     [ADDED]  employee-server/config.ru
     [ADDED]  employee-server/settings/settings.yml
     [ADDED]  employee-server/settings/license.key
     [ADDED]  employee-server/application.rb
     [ADDED]  employee-server/Rakefile
     [ADDED]  employee-server/spec/spec_helper.rb

The app name is passed as a parameter. Now what rhosync utility does is to generate a directory for your application with all the necessary files to get started.

Note

You can check what options are available with RhoSync by running the following commands on the command prompt.

$ rhosync

Usage: rhosync generator_name [options] [args]

RhoSync generator...
