Working with roles


It is likely that in any application there will be some features that are used by specific users, and other features that are used by a different set of users. Typically, the assignment of features—for example, transactions in SAP (and the security authorization necessary to access these features) is done on the basis of roles. Each user is assigned one or more roles, and based on this assignment, they have a requirement to use certain functionality. There is nothing complicated or revolutionary about this.

Your company may have a Sales department, a Finance department, and so on. Although these departments may use the same application (the application for which you are developing the training material), they are likely to use different functions, and will therefore need different training.
