For Siebel CRM deployments that support hundreds or thousands of users, it is very likely that the administrative overhead of managing user accounts for Siebel applications in the RDBMS is too high. Furthermore, it is more reasonable to use existing centralized user account management systems, which typically provide a higher level of manageability and security than RDBMS account management.
For these reasons, Siebel CRM supports a variety of LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) based directory servers as well as Microsoft Active Directory.
