Understanding Siebel Access Control


Siebel Access Control is the final security layer that an end user has to pass in order to get access to Siebel CRM functionality and data. The following diagram depicts the security layers that a user typically has to cross to access application functionality and data:

Network security is typically represented by the requirement to log in with a valid username and password to the corporate network using either the workstation logon provided by the operating system or a secure connection via the Internet, for example by means of VPN (Virtual Private Network) protocols.

To access the various applications that a company deploys to its staff, the end user either has to provide security credentials such as a username and password or she or he is authenticated by an integrated mechanism such as Web Single-Sign-On (SSO).
