Introduction

Earlier in the book, we learned how to use SharePoint for collaboration. We have already been introduced to the Wiki page, the default page type in SharePoint 2010. In this chapter we explore how to use SharePoint 2010 sites for communication. The early recipes show you how to use announcements and blogs to get your message out. Then we explore another important SharePoint page type, the publishing page. Through the recipes presented, you will gain an understanding of what publishing pages are and how to use them in your publishing sites. The final recipe in the chapter shows you how to use SharePoint 2010's web analytic reports to understand who is visiting your site so that you can better understand "who's listening" to the messages that you are trying to present.
