Preparing your iOS module development environment

To start developing your own iOS modules, you can use the Studio IDE or the Titanium CLI. We'll be using the latter to build our module.

How to do it...

The following instructions are for Mac OS X only. It is possible to develop Android modules in Linux, and Windows as well as OS X; however, for this recipe, we will be concentrating on iOS module development, which requires an Apple Mac running OS X 10.5 or above.

Make sure you have the latest versions of the Titanium CLI and SDK installed. Then, simply type the following in a terminal window:

appc ti create

You'll be asked to input a series of values related to your new project. The first is to enter 1 for an app and 2 for a module; enter 2.

Next, you'll need to select a platform. We're going for iOS, so type iOS and then give the project a name, say testmodule.

For the app ID, use reverse domain notation, that is com.packtpublishing.testmodule.

You can hit Enter for the URL question, and again...
