In real life, we will need at least two environments to have a healthy development life cycle. Normally, we will need a development server to develop our new Universes and make any required modifications. We will also need a production server that will have the live version of our Universe. Sometimes, we might implement a testing environment as well, to test our developed Universes before moving it to production.
The main purpose of the life cycle management (LCM) console is to help us promote objects such as reports, users, and Universes, among BO environments. Our focus here will be on Universes, but the same concept described here applies on the other objects as well.
