Aborting a session from the supervisor window


Sometimes, it becomes a requirement to abort a session from the supervisor window. We can also abort a user from viewpoint, but when sessions are not able to abort from viewpoint, in some cases you need to abort them from the supervisor window.

Caution needs to be taken while executing commands from supervisor windows, as they execute from the node and, if not executed properly, can abort or restart the system.

Getting ready

Connect to the Teradata database using viewpoint and the open portlet remote console.

How to do it...

The following are the steps for aborting the session from the supervisor window:

  1. Log on to viewpoint.
  2. Open the remote console portlet.
  3. Log in to abort the host utility:
  1. Execute abort session command*.<username>.
  2. You can abort the session via username or using the session ID.
  3. A group of session IDs can be clubbed together to abort sessions:
