The ACT! Report capabilities can be dramatically expanded through the use of embedded Visual Basic program scripts. The example we will use here is relatively simple but does demand a working knowledge of Visual Basic. It uses a series of conditional statements to assemble the contact's name complete with any prefixes and suffixes.
Because the particular script example we will be creating would most often be used in an envelope or label template, we will build our script in a new, empty envelope template.
1. From any screen in the ACT! program, click on Reports in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
2. Click on New Report Template.
3. In the New Report dialog, double click on Contact Envelopes.
4. In the New Envelope dialog, select Envelope #10 in the Select an envelope size field and then click the OK button.
