Although a picture may be worth a thousand words, sometimes a few words might greatly enhance the meaning of a picture—especially in the case of a Dashboard component graph or chart. The following screenshot shows you the Activities by User component without totals:

Although the chart gives us a good sense of the activities of the various users it doesn't give us a feel for the combined effort of the three sales people. The following screenshot shows you the same component with the addition of totals:

1. Click the Dashboard icon on the navigation bar to access the Dashboard view.
2. Select the Dashboard you want to modify from the Dashboard drop-down list and then click the Edit button on the Dashboard tool bar. The Dashboard designer opens.
3. Right-click on the component that you would like to change and select Component Configuration from the contextual menu; the Component Configuration wizard appears.
4. Click Change Totals from the Component...
