Using dimension build rules to add the parent-child dimension


In this recipe, we will set up a dimension build rule to modify the outline of the Sample Basic database. This recipe will be using the parent-child reference to build our Measures dimension.

Getting ready

To get started, click on your Start menu and navigate to Programs | Oracle EPM System | Essbase | Essbase Administration Services | Start Administration Services Console. In the Log in menu, enter your Administration Server, Username, Password, and click on the Log in button.

How to do it...

  1. Open a new Excel workbook.

  2. Enter the values as shown in the following table, and save them as tab delimited on your Sample Basic database directory for ease of use with the name Measures.txt. The URL for the Sample Basic database is as follows for version 11.1.2.x:
