In this recipe, we will set up a filter using MaxL and provision the filter to a group using Shared Services. Filters allow us to provision security to an Essbase database in the most granular manner possible. Using filters, you should be able to revoke access, assign read or write access, or allow metadata read access to components of the hierarchies.
To get started, click on the Start menu and navigate to Programs | Oracle EPM System | Essbase | Essbase Administration Services | Start Administration Services Console. In the Log in menu, enter your Administration Server, Username, Password, and click on the Log in button.
In EAS, click on the File menu, click on Editors, click on MaxL Script Editors, enter the following code, and click on Execute script to create a filter.
/*Create substitution variable*/ alter database 'Sample'.'Basic' add variable 'CurMth' 'Dec'; /*Create filter*/ create filter 'Sample'...
