Concepts for submittal management


The concept of managing submittals relies on how the submittal register is set up. There are various ways to accomplish this. The level of detail of this register determines the level of detail for managing and monitoring your submittals. Each submittal record in PCM represents a single level of approval. For example, if you are entering submittals for the electrical package on a building, there are typically many fixtures that need to be approved. Cut sheets about each fixture need to be submitted. So the question is: do you enter a submittal for each fixture or do you enter one submittal called "fixtures"? Since each individual fixture can be rejected or accepted, the answer is that you should enter each fixture as its own submittal. There may be exceptions to this method but this is the general rule.
