Time for action – permission walkthrough


In this example, we will go through the permission and security options and explore the options that are provided to the security administrator to apply security to the desired model.

  1. Open the WebUI of MDS. Go to User and Group Permissions.

  2. Click on the Add button and then enter the name of a user in the add user window (the user needs to be a Windows / Active Directory user; you might need to add a Windows user to run this example). You can also add an Active Directory group from the Manage Groups menu.

  3. Then, go to the Edit window. In the Functions tab, you can set which functions in the main WebUI menu are accessible for users (functions such as explorer and version management).

  4. To change permissions, you need to first click on the Edit icon on the top of the window, then make changes, and finally save it.

  5. You can define access and permissions to models and entities in the Models tab. To make changes, you need to go to the edit mode first (by clicking...
