Replication methods


The chosen replication method is largely dependent on the application. For example, you may wish to replicate data for backup and recovery reasons or maybe to load balance your user base across multiple sites. Whatever the requirement, we need a cost-effective and maintainable solution. Let's take a look at some replication architectures to see what is achievable using Oracle GoldenGate 12c.

Active-active replication

The active-active configuration provides both, load balancing and a disaster recovery (DR) solution. Let's assume a multinational computer hardware company has an office in London and New York. Data entry clerks are employed at both sites to input orders into an order management system. There is also a procurement department that updates the system inventory with volumes of stock and new products related to the US or European market.
