Overview of this book

Beyond buzzwords like Big Data or Data Science, there are a great opportunities to innovate in many businesses using data analysis to get data-driven products. Data analysis involves asking many questions about data in order to discover insights and generate value for a product or a service. This book explains the basic data algorithms without the theoretical jargon, and you’ll get hands-on turning data into insights using machine learning techniques. We will perform data-driven innovation processing for several types of data such as text, Images, social network graphs, documents, and time series, showing you how to implement large data processing with MongoDB and Apache Spark.

Preface

Exploring scientific visualization

A picture is worth a thousand words enunciates the idea that complex information can be described with just a single image. In the context of scientific visualization, the idea can be applicable, too. The visual representations of complex data sets from simulations, scientific experiments, medical scanners, etc., are called scientific visualization, which is a well-known technique from the areas of interactive computer graphics signal processing, image processing, and system design.

In understanding and solving scientific problems, scientific visualization unites mathematical models and computer graphics from the physical world and creates a visual framework. The algorithmic and mathematical foundations of scientific visualization can be explained by the real-world data from scientific and biomedical domains. In most cases, the application of scientific visualization techniques has been found within the domains of earth science, medical science, physical...
