IPython runs with certain settings by default. These setting are built into Python and are not generally user-visible. In order to modify them, they must be modified in config files. This can be accomplished at the command line, as follows:
ipython profile create <profilename>
This will create a blank file named ipython_config.py
in ~/.ipython/profile/default
, along with a few directories. IPython is configured, not by a plaintext file in the .conf
or .ini
format, but by a Python program in its own right. The first line is generally the following:
c = getconfig( )
