Preface

Introduction

Good visualizations intend to engage an audience's attention and hold it tight; they also aim to deliver good and precise information. There are a wide range of strategies to fit different situations. Whenever there is a place for it, making an interactive plot is advised; animations are welcome as well.

This chapter aims to introduce the use of three packages: ggiraph, gganimate, and tweenr. The first one can be used to make extra information available by hoovering the mouse; the two others animate a plot in a very gify way, usually culminating in very funny plots that attract too much attention.

Note

A little disclaimer before we go ahead: all the figures here are merely snapshots from the true outcomes. I do highly recommend you run each recipe so that you reach for what is really happening instead of getting only a glimpse.
