Connecting the tools


For information to be available, the systems need connection information and login credentials. PCM has no concept of time and therefore it is very advantageous to connect these tools. Connecting the two adds an element of time to PCM and much more detailed contract information to P6. There is the capability to push and pull data from either tool. See the details in the following sections.

P6 connected to PCM

When P6 is connected to PCM, it means that P6 information is available to the PCM user. Once a P6 project is linked to an PCM project in the PCM setup, then most of the modules that have a schedule section will have a pick list of P6 activities in which to associate with that PCM record. There is nothing magical that happens. The Schedule tab information is a simple get of the P6 data at that time and populates that information in the PCM database. If any changes are made in P6 after this has been done, then nothing will change in PCM. It is a one-time get of the...
