In this section, we examine the concept of the parameter file and learn how to change initialization parameters.
During the process of creating our database in Chapter 3, Creating the Oracle Database, we were presented with the following screen:
As the title of this window, All Initialization Parameters, would suggest, we use this screen to define the initialization parameters that control the inner-workings of the database. Although it happened without our knowledge at the time, these parameters, including any changes we made, were written out to a file called a parameter file.
