Summary
Creating the 4D User Experience Map can be a lengthy process, especially if we base it on detailed user research, involving both lab and remote tests, but it's worth the effort. No other visualization can summarize the user experience of a solution as a whole in one detailed map.
This map is based on all map types we have discussed so far in this book, but it's much more than the sum of all UX Maps. The top section of the map contains the actual four dimensions: milestones, events, importance, and severity of the problem. The middle section of the map contains the mental model snippets, and the bottom part is reserved for ratings.
The 4D UX Map is a great tool to facilitate communication with stakeholders, and it helps UX designers understand the project. I hope that after reading this chapter, you will not only create 4D UX Maps, but improve this map type and come up with even better map types.
There is one more user experience map type I need to share with you to make the book complete...
