Removing different types of spacing
If you open a document and find that there is an unnecessary or unintended amount of space somewhere, there are a variety of reasons as to why this can occur. It could be caused by people typing or formatting the document in an unexpected way, copying a style over from an old document, or simply by typing in, clicking on, or accepting a change they didn't intend to. Whatever the reason, there is now space in the document, and we are not sure how it got there. The reason doesn't matter as much as the type of space you are seeing and where you are seeing it inside the document. In Word, you can view extra spacing between the following:
- Letters or characters
- Words
- Lines or sentences
- Paragraphs
- Pages
