Changing audio speed

When we are dubbing audio, no matter how hard we try to match the original actor’s lip movements, our dubbed version will still be out of sync with the original visual.

This is where it is useful to change the speed of our audio without changing the pitch. We are now going to explore how we do this on the Cut page.

Changing the audio speed in the Inspector

First, we’ll look at changing audio speed in the Inspector. This is how we can do it:

  1. On the Timeline, select an audio clip you want to change the speed for.
  2. Move the clip so that the start of the audio matches the start of the actor opening their mouth in the Viewer.
  3. Open the Inspector panel (Figure 6.7).

  1. Click on the Audio tab to reveal the audio controls (Figure 6.7).
  2. Click on Speed Change to reveal the speed change controls (Figure 6.17).
  3. Keeping the Pitch Correction box...
