How video stabilization works
It is important to understand the basic principles of how video stabilization works in post-production software so that we can understand how to use the controls to fine-tune the software’s video stabilization.
The steps of video stabilization
As with all editing software stabilizers, Resolve will compensate for the camera movement by cropping into the video. So, as with all video stabilization, there will be a slight loss of resolution and the image will be slightly zoomed-in, due to the need to crop the image. Let us look at how and why video stabilization crops the image.
- The first step in video stabilization is to enable the software to detect and track movement in our video clip. We can select which type of movement the software detects by selecting options such as Perspective, Similarity, and Translation. These movement detection options will be described in further detail in the following sections.
