Chroma Key – where did my color go?
I’m sure everyone reading this book has seen a movie or a YouTube video containing special effects, whether that’s in the form of an explosion, a meteorite, a spaceship, and so on. I’m sure you know that the people in charge of filming didn’t actually film a meteorite hitting the earth; that was done with special FX and some green screens. By using the Chroma Key feature, we too will be able to add some green screen effects to our videos in order to implement such special effects. Let’s dig in:
- First, go to the Media library, and instead of Sample Video, we will now choose the Sample Green Screen category.

- Here, we can choose the green screen effect that we want and add it to a video track above the video we want to place it on, like this:
