Setting up the materials

Right now, all the materials are ugly.

Let’s start with the ground. You can do this part in the Shading tab. We’ll be sticking with basic, straightforward materials – exactly like the ones we’ve made throughout this book.

Give the ground plane a nice brown material, and give the ground tiles a nice green material:

Looking much better already. Let’s adjust the house materials next. I’ll have the main house color be tan and the roof be a reddish brown:

The house isn’t looking quite right, so I’m going to rotate it slightly. I also noticed I’d left a couple of rocks floating in the air, so I fixed those too:
