Using data with Power BI

In many organizations, data is stored in many locations and in many different structures, file types, and databases. You may need to extract data from different sources to create the visuals and reports required. 

Before you can create your visualizations and reports, you must extract the data from the various sources, prepare the data by cleansing it, and then shape it so that visualizations can be created properly.

One data source supported in Power BI is the Common Data Service. Using Power BI with the Common Data Service allows data in the Common Data Service to be analyzed. The visuals that are created from the data can then be displayed within the apps that use the Common Data Service.

There is an exam for the data analyst role, DA-100, that covers using Power BI with many other data sources. The DA-100 exam covers all the capabilities of Power BI. The PL-200 exam is restricted to using Power BI with the Common Data Service, Power Apps, and...
