Performing audio scrubbing: digital type scrubbing

Media Composer provides two types of audio scrubbing. One is a digital sounding scrub that might be described as staccato sounding (which is discussed in this recipe). The other is a more analogue sounding scrub that might be described as sounding like audio tape being rocked back and forth over the play-head on a tape machine (discussed in the recipe that follows this one).

How to do it...

  1. Enable the Digital Scrubbing feature by either of these methods:

    i. Press and hold the Shift key.

    ii. Enable Caps Lock.

  2. Scrub the audio by any of these methods:

    i. Moving the blue Position Indicator.

    ii. Use the Step Forward and Step Backward functions on the keyboard. By default, these are located on the 1, 2, 3, and 4 keys. The 1 and 2 keys are 8 or 10 frames at a time (depending on Project Format), while the 3 and 4 keys are 1 frame at a time.

    iii. Use the Step Forward and Step Backward functions below the Source and Record Windows.
