Exporting a QuickTime Movie (Self Contained)


Exporting to the QuickTime file format has become a very common way to get your content out of Media Composer and into another application (for example, for DVD encoding, for use as a reference with ProTools, to upload to the web, and so on).

Getting ready

Please review the following:

  • The introduction to the previous Exporting a QuickTime Reference Movie recipe as it contains helpful information

  • The previous information box that discusses performing a small scale test before exporting an entire sequence

How to do it…

Now that you have reviewed the information mentioned in the Getting ready section, let's export a Self Contained QuickTime movie.

  1. Follow steps 1 through 7 in the previous Exporting a QuickTime Reference Movie recipe.

  2. From the Export As: pull-down menu, select QuickTime Movie (not Quick Time Reference).
