Chapter 9. Quality Control

Up until this point in our project we have been working pretty much exclusively with V-Ray's default quality settings. Given that we are now closing in on creating our final output renders, the time has come to take a look at making improvements to the quality settings in a number of key areas. Specifically in this chapter, we will take a look at improving lighting, global illumination, image sampling, and scene materials. Taking the time to make even tiny improvements in each of these areas will ultimately lead to the production of much cleaner looking, higher-quality final renders.

To help us examine each of these key areas, we will need to make a series of high-quality test renders that we can take into our image viewer or editor of choice and then scrutinize closely.
