First of all, we need to identify the key stakeholders of the process that needs to be improved. The key stakeholders are those who are necessary for the success of the project. The team is formed with members representing these key stakeholders. These representatives should be held in high esteem by their group as well as the other stakeholders. Ideally, for effective team management, a typical Lean Six Sigma project team should not have more than six to seven full-time members.
Almost all teams go through the following stages of development:
Forming: The team sets procedures and protocols. Interaction between members is tentative and polite. The team leader dominates this stage.
Storming: This stage witnesses conflicts between team members. Team members question authority with respect to team objectives, structure, process, and protocols. The team members try to define their role in the team.
