You have learned various steps to take after the audit letter arrives to disseminate, cooperate, aggregate and mitigate for current and future audits. You have also learned about the vendor and auditors license compliance review process and how they determine to move forward with an audit or not.

The early steps for responding to an audit demand need to be taken very quickly, and in many cases simultaneously. The quicker wheels are set in motion, the more prepared your company will be to effect a positive outcome.

Audit demand letters usually require a response within 30 days. The initial response should come from your company's legal department, your company appointed SAM audit response contact, or vendor management. It is usually a phone call or email to the designated contact to acknowledge receipt of the demand.
