Creating new resolutions

In this recipe, we will look at how to create custom resolution values for when users resolve and close issues.

How to do it…

Proceed with the following steps to create new resolutions:

  1. Navigate to Administration | Issues | Resolutions.

  2. Enter the new resolution's name.

  3. Click on Add to create the new resolution.

There's more…

Resolutions are global, which means all projects and issue types will have the same list of resolution options. However, since you can only set resolution values during a workflow transition, you can include/exclude specific resolutions with the jira.field.resolution.include transition variable. For example, if we want to limit the resolutions to Fixed and Won't Fix only, we will set the variable's value to 1,2.
