Summary

In this chapter, you started with understanding how important reporting is to run any business. We reviewed a set of questions that need to be asked when gathering reporting requirements. You also learned about the different tools available in Dynamics AX for reporting and BI and how they can be used to fulfil the reporting requirements in the project. In the end, we discussed how, in typical implementation projects, we have to either modify or develop new reports from scratch. We also discussed the typical process of custom report development in Dynamics AX.

In the next chapter, we will learn about the functional and technical architecture of Dynamics AX. We will understand key design patterns and how to extend these features when needed.
