Copying security from an existing user


Creating users and granting them all of the necessary access can be a fairly time-consuming affair, especially if there are a lot of companies. One of the relatively new features in Dynamics GP is the ability to copy security from one user to another which can be massively time saving.

To copy security access from one user to another, perform the following steps:

  1. Select User from the System | Setup section of the Administration area page.

  2. Select an existing user or create a new one and click the Copy Settings button on the action pane; if you are creating a new user, click Yes when asked Do you want to save changes to this user ID? to open the Copy User Settings window:

  3. In the Security Access section, set the User ID field to the user from which the security access should be copied from:

  4. The Home Page and Area Pages configuration can also be copied to the new user from an existing one, which does not need to be the same one as the Security Access section...
