Attaching documents to records


There are full document management solutions available for Microsoft Dynamics GP, but not everyone needs a solution of this scale. As an alternative, Dynamics GP ships with a module called Document Attachment; it allows documents to be scanned and attached into GP on any window. Document Attachment integrates with almost every window in Microsoft Dynamics GP, either by having a paper clip button on the action pane or by replacing the obsolete OLE Notes functionality on the record notes.

Getting ready

Before documents can be attached into Dynamics GP, the Document Management module needs to be activated and configured by following these steps:

  1. Open the Document Attachment Setup window in Dynamics GP by selecting Administration from the Navigation pane and clicking on Document Attachment Setup in the Setup section under Company.

  2. Mark the Allow Document Attachments field.

  3. Enter a UNC or shared drive path in the Default Location field; this is where Document Attachment...
