Adding a post grid with Gutenberg

We discussed the use of post grids in Chapter 2, Customizing Theme Design and Layout, for replacing the default post list design in modern websites. With the introduction of the Gutenberg editor, more and more plugins are converting their shortcode into reusable blocks. So, we can find many blocks for displaying posts such as Post Grid, Post Sliders, and Post Timelines.

In this recipe, we are going to use a free plugin to add and style a post grid into a page without writing any code.

Getting ready

We need to install the Guten Post Layout plugin before executing this recipe. Follow these steps to install the plugin:

  1. Log in to the WordPress Dashboard as an administrator.
  2. Click the Plugins...
