Spreading yourself thinly
Josh Long: Sometimes I feel, after a while, that I'm okay at 10 different things, whereas some people are really great at more. You start getting used to feeling mediocre, at least I do. But still, I'd rather be focusing on many topics than be bored.
Geertjan Wielenga: Where do you see your role developing in the next 10 years or so?
Josh Long: I love what I'm doing and our advocacy team is growing. I spend as much time as I can with people on the team to try and help them to do this job effectively. I'm privileged to have been doing this job for a good deal longer than anybody else on my team, so I try to help them.
As regards our larger company story, we're getting better and better. Every day there is a really amazing opportunity for these services.
We have more and more opportunities for synergies, and the synergies between all these different techs are really interesting to me.
I like Spring, I like microservices, I like cloud computing...
