The new and improved Accessibility Checker

The name of this tool, the Accessibility Checker, would seem to imply that it should be run at the end of the document design or writing process as a series of final proofing checks. However, please do not think of this tool as something to be run only at the end. In fact, I strongly urge you to open a blank Word document and run this tool now. When you do, although it is highly unlikely you will find any issues in a blank document, you will find some additional helpful accessibility information and settings.

Running the Accessibility Checker

The steps for running the Accessibility Checker will vary depending on your version of Word. In Office 365, however, you can start the Accessibility Checker from your Review tab:

  1. Go to your Review tab.
  2. Click on the top part of the Check Accessibility button.
