Transcribing audio

If this feature is something that sounds exciting, but you don't have a Microsoft 365 subscription, I am sorry to tell you that Transcribe is a premium subscription feature.

Even though there is a button for Transcribe in Word for the Web, that does not necessarily mean you have access to the feature. You do need to have a Microsoft 365 subscription, whether it's a personal, school, or work subscription.

But if you do, you can sign in with that premium subscription account, open a Word document, and click on the Transcribe button to upload and transcribe audio files.

Transcribing audio

Follow these steps to transcribe audio:

  1. Open a Word for the Web Word file with a subscription Microsoft 365 account.
  2. Click the arrow next to the microphone icon to open a menu.
  3. Click on the Transcribe button.
