Creating an app

The latter of the two ways for constructing your bot, utilizing building through Slack apps, allows a wider range of functionality in your bot's future uses. This means of setting up your bot is often recommended by Slack. For these reasons, we'll explore this route in more detail for setting up your bot.

To start, you'll first want to head to https://api.slack.com/apps, where you'll be presented with the option of creating your very own app. Using the APIs we discussed in detail in Chapter 9, Slack API, Webhooks, Block Kit, and Sandbox, you'll begin the process of setting up your bot by creating an app through the Slack API. Use the button shown in the following screenshot to start:
