Picking

Picking is the process of taking goods from a storage location and moving them to an interim or staging area where the goods can be packed and shipped out to the customer. Companies can perform picking based on how they are set up, meaning whether their warehouse is inventory-managed or warehouse-managed or whether they are using Handling Units (HUs) to track the material.

If you are using an Inventory Managed (IM) warehouse, the system can determine the storage location automatically in the delivery document or you have added or changed the storage location manually. Before posting a goods issue, the items need to be picked and staged in the staging area. Picking the status in the Status tab of the delivery shows whether the picking process is partially or fully completed.
