Location master data concepts in SAP APO

Unlike in SAP ECC, location in SAP APO represents different data objects. In SAP ECC, the plant, the customer, and the vendor are completely different objects. On the other hand, in SAP APO these are represented as location types – for example, Production Plant, Distribution Center, Shipping Point, Customer, Vendor, and so on. Figure 3.3 shows location master data screen with different location types:

Important Note

There should be a unique code for each of these location types. In the case of any number range overlaps for objects with different location types, SAP provides the user exit APOCF001 to concatenate a suffix or prefix for the code.
